easyhome stores are very much part of the community we serve. That’s why, when we chose a partner for our corporate giving, we chose the Boys and Girls Club of Canada. Boys and Girls Clubs offer programs that are accessible and affordable to all children. The clubs offer a safe place for children to channel their energies into positive, challenging activities. Like easyhome, the Boys and Girls Club of Canada is a national organization, yet rooted in communities. We share similar core values, such as respect and empowerment. Since our partnership in late 2004, easyhome has raised over $450,000 on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of Canada. Of this, $114,000 has been pledged to the Boys and Girls Club of Canada endowment program.
In June 2008, easyhome hosted our first golf tournament, to support the 2009 Backpack Challenge. The event included over 120 of our corporate vendors and partners and raised over $27,000. With our fundraisers, we have been able to give 7700 backpacks filled with school supplies, to children in Clubs across the country, ensuring they have the proper tools for a successful education and future.
To keep in close contact with the kids of the Boys and Girls Club, each year, the Toronto head office heads to the Dovercourt Boys and Girls Club to spend a day playing soccer with the kids, and ensuring that they have good lunch, and most importantly are awarded with ribbons and trophies for their hard work. We have participated in this event for the last 4 years.
